Do you have an iPhone? Do your kids, friends or colleagues? How about the people who visit the parks you manage, beaches you are protecting, and open space that you are working to preserve? We don’t usually ask such personal questions or focus on gear, but today is different.
Today we announce the iPhone app for Transit & Trails!
Now with a few clicks you can have access to information about trails and public transportation on your iPhone. If the weather changes and you need to shorten your hike, no problem. If you are coordinating a big group of people for a long hike, no problem. Don't you hate it when you print out directions and forget them on the printer? No problem. The Transit & Trails iPhone app puts the information you need in your hand. Pulling data from Google Transit and 511, Transit & Trails helps you get outside.
Transit & Trails also helps others get to you. Several of our members provide links on their website to Transit & Trails so that their trails, recreation areas, beaches, and parks are easier to find and get to. If you're interested in linking up, contact Ryan Branciforte at ryan@openspacecouncil.org.
Are you looking for an alternative to your car but still want to go hiking or mountain biking? The Transit & Trails website and app can help you plan a trip via public transit. Consider some of the many advantages:
- Reduced carbon footprint
- One way trips - no out and backs
- No bridge tolls
- No parking tickets
- Save $$ and avoid rising gas prices
- Great views while on transit
