Quick, what are three of the highest peaks in the Bay Area?*
...
The answer:
Mount Hamilton (elevation 4,196 feet)
Mount Diablo (elevation 3,864 feet)
Mount Tamalpais (elevation 2,574 feet)
On Saturday, June 18, 2011 we will hold the second annual Triple Threat bike challenge. Using only public transportation and their bicycles, riders will ride to the summits of the three major peaks in the Bay Area: Mount Hamilton, Mount Diablo, and Mount Tamalpais.
All in one day.
If not up to the task of three peaks, riders can opt for the Single Summit (Mount Diablo only) or the Double Dip (Mount Diablo and Mount Tamalpais).
Sponsors of the ride are REI, Transit & Trails, and Bay Area Open Space Council. Partners include California State Parks, Santa Clara Parks and Recreation, Save Mount Diablo, Rails to Trails, and Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. Thanks to all who are involved!

For those arm-chair-bicyclists out there, follow the ride on Twitter and Facebook. And join the Cause to support the riders and Transit & Trails.
*Bay Area peaks that are publicly accessible as well as near public transportation. Mount Saint Helena is technically the tallest at 4,343 feet. Also, Mount Umunhum at 3,486 feet is taller than Mount Tam, but not accessible to the public. Yet.
