- California’s Rangeland Could Take a Hit from Climate Change. California’s ranchers could face a tougher economic future under climate change. The grasslands they depend on to feed their cattle could shrink by almost 40% by the end of the century, according to a study from Duke University and the Environmental Defense Fund. (KQED)
- Mountain Lake's gunk to be cleared in Presidio. The 4-acre pond on the southern boundary of the Presidio of San Francisco is sloppy with toxic gunk. (SF Gate)
- Scientists team with art designers to restore Año Nuevo Island, a place where animals reign supreme. On a tiny, windswept island off the San Mateo County coast, a team of scientists and art designers has engineered a creative solution to give mating seabirds a boost: ceramic "love shacks." - American Canyon opens new sections of trail for hikers, bikers and equestrians. The nearly two-mile trails are part of a project that eventually will connect Napa and American Canyon. (Times-Herald)
- East Bay Parks buys Marsh Creek land protected by conservation group. Morgan Territory Regional Preserve, between Clayton and Livermore, is growing by 82 acres, and a conservation group is losing $30,000 as result. (Mercury News)
